Well, all of this needs to be powered. UPS is highly recommended, as well as acting as your basic surge protector.

Of course, you always have about 5 times as many devices to plug in that outlets. Then there are those "wall warts" -- those transformers with the plug right on the end that take up all the space.

You want the significant things on the UPS. Let's see if I can try and list them...

Basic: Computer, monitor

Optional (but since we have VoIP service) recommended: Cable Modem, Router/Hub, VoIP box, phone

Nice, as long as you have the power: USB hub, clock, light.

Not requred: Speakers

Should not be connected: Laser Printer, Ink Jet Printer
