Cool photograph of an unidentified roadway transversing through somewhere in Hawaii. The exact date is unknown but assumed around 1935. "Castle" insulators are believed to have been made by the McLaughlin Glass Works in California at around that time. Some of these elusive insulators have been located in Hawaii. The exact purpose of their turrets on the very top of the insulators' crown probably accepted the line wire as a saddle no matter how the insulator was positioned on its pin. Many have chipped "turrets" due to their sharp edges and resultant fragility. Note the open wire line to the right. Possibly this line or others just like it were adorned with such "Castle" insulators. Enjoy!
