Dug in Maine only a few years ago along US Rt. 1. This is the original line wire from the line that dates back to the mid to late 1840's. This line also had Lefferts Hooks installed, so this could perhaps be an upgrade form the early 1850's. Either way - that's an old piece of wire on that old insulator ! This is also in above-average condition. One hard-to-notice shallow paper-thin flake on the skirt, and the rest you can see on the base. $350 shipped.
