I have about 10 pix of these glass things in great variety of shapes and colors, similar to what has been posted by Sandia and others lately. I am posting another pic here simply in order to add the text from the 'original seller' at a famous internet auction site which must remain unnamed for this Reference. This pic is of a skyblue one to support the text below. I know one in teal blue went for $256, the most I personally have ever documented any going for in that feverish Fall 2001. I specialize in teals but I did not buy it. Keith

Following is what the seller CLAIMED. I am not endorsing this history, but here is his text verbatim in public domain with his email address. It is from October 2001 when these first hit the scene ........again, since I hear talk they first surfaced in the 1970s..........:

I'm a project controls engineer with Bechtel, an engineering and construction company. Bechtel has several projects in Mexico. A few months ago, I ran across an old factory in the Orizaba area that produced hand-blown glass insulators for a local telephone company in the 1960s. These vary in size and color, all have no threads underneath. They were attached by glue or cement to fence posts or pegs. I brought a few of these back to the states. The one in the auction is a sky blue colored glass, about 4 inches tall, 3 inches diameter on the bottom. There are no chips or cracks- new useable condition. I pay postage. Remember, these were hand-blown. No two are alike. They are all about the same shape, just height and diameter vary. There is still a small barrel full existing at this location. If this auction is successful, I will go back and have more auctions.
