A close up of the rust bucket. It's a 50 kva transformer, actually a pretty small size can for a 50. I have to give credit to RTE Transformer Co., regardless of how it looks, since it has worked faithfully for 52 years converting 7200 volts to 120/240 volts. Looks like a Locke U-791 Hi-top insulator on the cross arm, which are very common on older PGE lines here in N.W. Oregon. A $2 insulator on a good day!  |
