Circa 1905. The awesome weight and subsequent brutal force of gravity upon these heavily loaded tree branches and utility wires broke nearly every tree and pole in this community during this heavy ice storm. One can only imagine the many, many hours (and days!) of hard labor it took to clear the streets and in rebuilding the utility lines! And that was in the days *before* chain saws and most other portable debris-cleaning/removing equipment were commonplace...to boot!
