All this talk about a rumored 1800's railroad tunnel beneath the river between Louisville and Jeffersonville has me kinda skeptical, but nonetheless, intrigued. Here's the best map I found so far. That mid-river Island was likely used eventually to foot a bridge to span the river... But that's just a wise guess based on reports of a bridge span OVER the river eventually in later years.
