Open wire of most descriptions here, starting with the telegraph lines that are to the left. In those days it was probably difficult to discern who's wires were who's...so unless the crossarms were specifically marked and/or specially colored insulators were used (or a bright lineman atop the pole!), it might have been a bit confusing!
