CD 698 "mystery" Italian insulator, bottom views

Bottom views of teh two sections of this insulator. The pinhold in the lower section has no threading or ridges. So, I suppose it could be called a threadless, green frog, spook, two-part, dry spot, terminal insulator. About as common as turtle fur or chicken lips ;-) Nora Coppo has posted a couple of photos of this type insulator earlier, as well as a couple of these in clear glass. [id=155905150]

The mystery has been solved, this is now a CD 698 and its function was as a fuse holder (portafusible in Italian). These wer emade by MIVA and possibly Fidenza. The fuse link was a strand or two of thin wire connected between the two "eyes".
