For your consideration this evening is a classic example of what lack of sleep will do to you. Presumably the fellow machining the mould for this piece was up late the night before having a good time. Pretty awesome the way, whatever it was that caused him to make that error, whatever part of his personal life resulted in that little mistake - has directly affected our hobby, and created just another little piece of history to be collected. Yes, this is the [030] CANADIAN PACIFIC RY CO CD 143 with the upside down "RY" embossing. My father & I collectively have only ever recovered one of these intact, and a half dozen broken examples. The wild piece we found ourselves replaced this one, so I'm passing it on. The colour is a light greenish aqua, and the condition is not bad, with one 3/4" by 3/8" area of chipping off the bottom of the wire groove to the right of the "CO" embossing (visible in photo), and one 3/4" fan crack in the base below the "CAN" embossing. These fan cracks are normal for Hamilton style base insulators. I'm asking $8 U.S. plus shipping for this unique, and scarce piece of Canadian telegraph history with a twist thanks to one long-gone fellow and his unique personal life. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON or anyone I've dealt with before. All the best!
