CD 110.5 [010] New Eng Tel & Tel Co. with base embossing as well. Of the CD 110.5 corkscrews, I like this one best because of the visually appealing Arc embossing on the front. The base embossed having the whole word Insulator spelled out on the bottom as well as a Dec 25, 1883 (Christmas date). By my measurements, nearly 1 inch of dome glass. There are 5 small flakes scattered about. 4 on the corkscrew & 1 on the base that gets part of C 2. With the exception of a small flake on the screw, all the others are on the back. They are all clean slices. Overall, I think very nice for a corkscrew and even better as a New England embossed corkscrew. This piece has an oval slug plate on the rear with a circle in the middle. I wonder if this was to cover the straight line embossing that is usually weak and hard to read that these are found in. Just speculation but I've never seen mention of a blot out / slug plate on one of these before. The book says $300 - $350. My price is $206.66 and that includes the shipping! Sounds like a really good deal. First email. |
