For the atonement of your collection this evening is a rather unusual G.T.P. TEL. CO. CD 145. The embossing style, as listed in the price guide, is [080]. However, there is something different about this embossing style that doesn't turn up as frequently as the ordinary G.N.W. blotout G.T.P. pieces. If you look at the embossing in the photo, you will see the thin, delicate nature of the "TEL. CO" and "G" embossing. Now, take a look at the bold, crude, poorly machined nature of the letters "T.P.". Were they trying to tell us something by making these letters so much more pronounced than the others? I hope not. No, in actuality, the thinprint G.N.W. TEL. CO. mould was simply refurbished to read "G.T.P" instead, and this is the unusual result. Regardless, this embossing style is one I have not run across at all in my travels, save one sent to me from a western collector, and this one, retrieved from the west by a collector friend. The condition is not bad. The damage is limited to a 1/4" fisheye on the front dome, and a 5/8" flat base chip on the front base. The piece is very clean, and has a pair of lovely bubbles in the rear skirt to compensate. I'm asking $10. U.S. plus shipping for this unusual and contrasting embossing style. I accept personal cheques from any member of ICON, or anyone I've dealt with before. All the best! |
