This engine was one of three GP40-2Ps that worked for Southern Pacific in San Francisco commuter service. This one hatched in November of 1974 and stayed in that service through 1985, when California DOT took over the commuter service. Its steam generators were removed and it was pressed into freight service throughout the SP and eventually UP system. It now wears it's UP paint job, and this unit which spent years hustling passengers through San Fran now sits in yard service, at this time in Dupo, IL on 11-3-2006.
