Fred Locke CD 319 prototype with dates embossed

Wile the CD 319 Locke is nothing special this is an oddball... The base skirt is 1/2 " smaller then normal indicating it is an early production of this CD. likely the mold set was changed to acomadate the use of a porcelain pin base assembly or a larger shank wood pin on later units . this one has barely enough clearance to fit some 1 3/8 wood pins and will not fit most Locke porcelain pins. Also intresting is the fact that the mold has the patent dates not blotted out . when Fred Locke left The Locke company in 1904 many of the molds for Brookfield produced Locke glass insulators had the dates removed. On some CD's Fred's initals or first name were also removed making the embossing " LOCKE, VICTOR, N. Y. " Please see the next picture for a view of the embossing...
