The hike back out was much worse than the way in, trust me. I found this line just before dark, so I only checked 2 poles. The large (standoff?) in the center was still bolted to 2' of 4X4, but it worked out. After packing the multis, and a few large pins, and the Thomas cable in my backpack, there was still a trickle of blood making it to my arms. The insulator and the wood made a nice L to throw over my shoulder and sealed those veins up good. I forgot about the creek I had to jump on the way in, and instead of unloading and reloading, walked right through it.(This is after walking 12mi. of track for absolutely NOTHING earlier in the day.) So, I was happy to find anything, regardless of how common. The center is Ohio Brass, sandblasted 56, but I can't find anything for reference as to why it was in the middle of a line. I think I see a faint Ohio Brass embossing on the 2 either side of it, but the glaze sure looks like OB. The Thomas has a chip, but hopefully it means there are more on the line with some nice colors. |
