We have 2 more suspension insulators displaying high energy discharge charactoristics. The heat / energy involved must be quite fantastic to melt the glaze off these suspension disks. To the right is the original lightning strike unit, but I thought I would show these 2 suspensions to point out the similarity in damage to these lighter capacity units and the energy discharge pattern. All 3 pieces are NGK Japan manufacture. You can easily see where the metal also shows signs of very high heat as it is quite dis-coloured.
