Jack's pictures of the elk inspired me to add these 2 pictures taken on a mountain climbing trip about 2 weeks ago. The area is a fairly remote one in the South San Juan Wilderness. The place is chocked full of high open tundra packed with wildflowers and yummy grass for the elk and deer. The herd (some of which are) shown in the next picture was high in the tundra beneath this peak. We crossed them as we worked our way up toward the mountain.
