This pole is on the west end of a stretch of open wire along the railroad. More details of the line are in Stairway to Open Wire posted in the General catagory. The Johnny Ball strain insulator method of wire dead ending is perhaps the second oldest method, the first being double insulators on pins. You will see very little of this type of dead ending anywhere and this will be gone someday too!
