I came across this tattered old colored pencil drawing while cleaning out a closet today. I did this as a kid back in 1969.

At the time I wasn't aware that any O'Brien patents had actually been found. I was intriqued by the cool design which I saw in an old catalog reprint. I drew what I'd liked to have seen while hiking the Colorado mountains. I see I wasn't too accurate about the vintage of the pole hardware (or the embossing). As you probably guessed, I didn't turn out to be an art major either.

Almost 40 years later, I still dream of owning an O'Brien patent!
