One thing that lacks in my hunting collection is a threadless insulator. After hearing many predictions that the future of hunting is 'going underground', I was inspired to return to a location where I had once found a shard of what appeared to be a CD 731. So, today I returned with a rake, long pants, boots, and was prepared to trailblaze near the old trackbed. I came upon these two 145s and that was about it until I saw the side of something much different sticking out of the ground...I cleared some dirt away and BAM!....actually it was only about 80% of it...you can see a small crack on the crown that is actually the second piece which I found about a foot away a couple inches underground, but it fit seamlessly. Besides a thumbnail size chip in the base and a few small wire groove chips, it is 100% complete (aside from being in 2 pieces) I was excited to say the least. A CD 701 is a huge change of pace for me....so much history behind this piece. Needless to say, I plan on returning to this central jersey location to continue the hunt. *Huge mold line. |
