CD 162 MLAB STAR (Mold Line Across Base) Purpose?1

Here is a couple of photos of the Teal Aqua CD 162 (MLAB) STAR. What is or what would the reason be for this to have a two-piece base in a Round Base style? Any feedback will be much appreciated,
