Well, no blatantly interesting title for this one - but if you've made it this far, chances are you'll be intrigued by this photo! Thanks to hints from a good (now even better!) collecting friend, I was able to locate a rather large bottle dump in rural S.W. Ontario today. After wandering the dump for some time, and picking up several dozen interesting bottles, my father and I stumbled upon this sight - the leftovers from what the collector before us had dug from what must have been the local power company dump in the 1950s. Something around 2 dozen carnival glass CD 235s and a couple dozen other glass & porcelain telephone and power pieces were sparkling in the sunlight - all broken in some way. The lucky fellow who stumbled across this dump originally never did find a mint example here, but he has told he is in possession one or two in good shape from this very spot. Further searching didn't yield any more carnival glass - it appears he dug the vein dry - but it was in the very least an interesting and memorable experience! |
