This was the first pile we found along this stretch, situated at a small gate from the road over the railroad to a farm on the other side. Due to a stone fence along the road, the railway wasn't visible. But as the pretty seasoned insulator hunter I have become, sometimes you just "smell" insulators, or feel and says like "pull over here, I have to look". Well, so I did, and this was the sight that greeted me - jackpot! I entered a state of euphoria, familiar to all hunters! On this spot I found a very beautiful yellow/golden brown striped, stubby Cordeaux, a brown glazed Cordeaux (not beautiful at all but very rare), and two Fatties. Had to saw off the oak crossarm to get the "golden" Cordeaux, and scratched my hand badly on some thorns in the process...but at this stage I was pumped with adrenaline and didn't feel it at all...afterwards I noticed the blood on my hand. No pain - No gain!! |
