In the beginning of March, James Bancroft and I went on a hunting trip to the "green island"; Ireland. We set our course to some of the disused railways here and there. I soon learnt (the hard way!) that thorns thrives very well and grows everywhere on this island, and especially on abandoned railways. This is a view from an old bridge, and all this vegetaion are thorns - impossible to force without a machete! Yes, it is actually tracks under this chaos of nasty bushes. Many poles are also more or less totally overgrown with ivy. The ground is also very soft and mushy, which cause many poles, even new ones, to lean quite badly.
