Here is a small selection of date nails my sons and I have found over the last month or so. We went out yesterday and got about 30-40 more all off of one old train trestle. Those are still soaking in vinegar.

The two larger nails were found on todays insulator hunt. I was very surprised and pleased to find the NLC 28 (Ntn'l Lumber Co. 1928) nails. I will leave them as is because they are copper and have a nice patina to them.

Now the surprise...notice the large white tooth? That is one of several alligator teeth I found beside the track on a hunt over the winter. A partial skeleton was there including a partial jaw bone. It is estimated this gator was over 10' long. I also found a metal tag mixed in with the bones and traced it back to the farm the gator was released from. Just thought you guys would get a kick out of the tooth.

The nickel was placed there for size comparison.
