When talking to fellow collectors (or their spouses) one of the biggest complaints I hear is one of not having a good place to display the collection or that there are "insulators everywhere!" I am making available the display cabinet I have used to display my collection for many years. This cabinet was professionally custom built using furniture grade oak and moldings. The cabinet measures 53" wide x 56 1/4" tall x 13 3/4" deep at the widest points. Shelves are 46" long and 4 1/2" deep. I found that these dimensions allowed me to store most CDs with the exception of large power. See picture for examples. Some of the bigger pieces in my collection that do fit include CD 196, 202, 257, 263, 267.5, 287.1 & 320. The enclosed backlit area includes 6 6,500K natural daylight fluorescents giving the truest white light I could economically find. There are no light 'hot spots' and every inch of the lit panel is lit evenly. Over the years, this piece has been proudly displayed in my living room, hallway, and most recently, my collection / insulator room. Anyone who has stopped by to see my collection has seen this cabinet. I can comfortably display approximately 90 insulators in the cabinet not counting the top that I used for some larger pieces as seen in the picture. If you specialize in smaller CDs, like CD 102, 121, 126, 127, etc. you can obviously display more. I've seen discussion on ICON about how much more enjoyable collecting is for those who have a place for their collection that really shows off their beauty. I couldn't agree more. Obviously, this can't be shipped so it must be picked up. I do have a truck and can either deliver it or meet someone half way for an additional fee. I am asking what I paid when I had it built - $1,500.00. Since then, materials have gone up considerably as has labor. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and I am sure it will bring you as much pleasure and pride as it has me displaying my collection to the fellow collectors as well as those who had no idea even what insulators are. Additional pictures are available upon request. Call if you'd like to discuss further. (NOTE: INSULATORS NOT INCLUDED!) |
