Here's a scarce tall version Type 2 Purple CD 106 unembossed Zicme glass insulator from Colombia (on the left). I call this Type 2 as it is tall with squared wire grooves and small rdps. From my observation there are three molds found of unembossed CD 106 Zicmes. I number them 1-3 chronologically by age. Type 3 is the tallest CD 106 (and final style made), unembossed with square wire grooves and small rdps. [id=57547830] The mold lines go up the sides and over the wire grooves and circle around the base of the crown! This seems to indicate they were made in a 3-piece mold. Type 1 is the earliest and shortest made with regular rounded wire grooves and regular rdps. The mold lines go up the sides and stop at the wire groove, and then travel around the wire groove. This particular Type 1 (on the right) is an anomoly in that the small drips, squared wire grooves and mold lines mimick a Type 2, but it doesn't have the height. Perhaps it could be called a Mod-Type 1. The commonly found (yet rarely offered) unembossed Zicme Type 1 CD 106 is the smallest height, does not have any of these features, rather it looks identical to an embossed CD 106 minus the embossing. Perhaps it's time to write this up in Crown Jewels? I've already identified most if not all of the CD 154 Zicme mold variations. So here's a chance to get in early on the latest research discoveries. No duplicates available! Don't snooze! First email can have the Type 2 CD 106 Purple (on the left ) (which by the way has a very pretty Violet hue to it) unembossed Zicme for $80 plus shipping. The CD 106 Purple Mod-Type 1 unembossed Smokey Purple Zicme (on the right) is available for $70 plus shipping. Buy them both and I'll give you free shipping! Thanks |
