Script Embossing, Example 1

Some confusion exists as to what is "Script" embossing, versus the later "Prismic" style of lettering. Script is what you find on SMOOTH BASE ( pre-drip point patent ) HG and Hemingray embossing insulators. The style of lettering was continued after the drip points were added and Prismic lettering was introduced (about 1895). It should be noted that there are a number of variations during this period on different CD's, sometime referred to as "Transition" type. Consult your local specialist for references on these ! Shown is a pair of Hemingray No.8's (both large and small mold style with Script lettering.
