Here is an example of a iron wire tie wrap from around 1880. It was part of the Arizona's Military Telegraph system that ran between the Indian forts. This piece was found in 2003, just south of Ft. Apache. The soldiers maintained the lines and would have tied off this insulator. This is a typical Western Union style tie and is an early piece of history from the Territory of Arizona.
