We used to have 41.6 kV lines in the Calhan area. They are now 7,200/12,160 Delta and these leaning poles were put up about 1944-45 (I have a brown JD multi with 3 4 44 on the crown to prove this) and was stung with 1/0 ACSR wire. The new poles on the right are Lapp 14Kv (often) mixed with 7 kV posts. The new wire (appropriately called CABLE) is 477 MCM ACSR and 350 MCM on the neutral. Mountain View Electric did this construction instead of 14.4kV west of about the Simla, CO area. East of there, 14.4 kV is the norm. It is found on small mulits and original 41.6 kV construction is still retained - It is very wide open country between Simla and Limon, CO with ranches and farms being the norm along U.S. 24. The old Rock Island lines used to go through this area, and there are the occasional farmer phone line and railroad remnants to be found.
