I have recently acquired a CD 1052 No Embossing spool. What I would like to know is how to tell the difference between the [010] No Embossing and the [020] No embossing {Whitall Tatum product} variants.

The picture shows my No Embossing on the right, next to an [010] Hemi spool. As you can see in the pic the top is totally different as the Hemi has a depression around the hole, while the NE has a flat top. The base of the NE has a sort of protruding inner skirt around the hole, while the Hemi spools are almost flat on the bottom.

Each of my Hemi 1052s and a No Name 1052 {Hemi product} have the same basic shape. This NE one is quite different in shape from all my other 1052s.

What determines the Whitall Tatum product from the Hemi's? Inquiring minds want to know as there is a big value difference between the two. $10-15 versus $50-75 for the WT variant.

I have been notified that my No Embossing spool is the elusive and more valuable Whitall Tatum product. Woo-hoo!!!!
