This one was taken by me during the same 12/05 blizzard (see earlier photo). Northeast winds blasting directly right in my face with bare tolerance to the snow-sting from the wind and barely being able to stand up (I am 5-9, 150) and my camera was soaked! But it survived (I obviously did too!) Anyway!! This is a "double-bend" street light from around the teens on a pipe pole of the approximate same vintage. It is wired up as functional like nearly 20 other vintage street lights that circumference the perimeter of Joe's half-acre yard. This was taken about 2:30 PM during an intense storm which totally darkened the skies! And to top it off vivid lightning was present, a real treat to see with the darkened sky and everything else below being totally white! (They call it "thundersnow"). There was so much snow blowing horizontally that Joe's clear streetlight bulbs looked totally opaque as you can see.

If you are interested in old-time street lights or anything else associated with them, you ought to check out Joe's site at:

And...Joe has a fantastic group on Yahoo (more than 100 members) dedicated to the admiration of radial-wave street lights as well as subsequent earlier mercury vapor street lighting.
