What's is it?

I know, I know...you are saying "Wait a second. That's not an insulator!"

I beg to differ...it was in fact used as an insulator. I was in Texas in May 05' for some training at Lackland, AFB. One weekend while there I drove up to Waring, TX with the intentions of finding a few insulators. I had previously seen the Waring train depot here http://www.boerne.lib.tx.us/buildings/rail.htm and decided to find it and take a look in person.

Long story short is: I found no insulators, but I did get to meet the gentleman who now owns the Waring depot (and lives in it). I asked him about insulators...he left for a bit and returned with this bottle top and told me the story of how he found it in the attic of the depot stuck on a wood peg. He said there was a wire wrapped around it that ran to the exterior of the building and appeared to be setup as an insulator.

He also directed me to a friend of his in Welfare, TX (also mentioned on the webpage above). I drove over there and met that gentleman. My persistance was rewarded with a nice CD 151 he had gathered off his land back in the 70's.

I just found this bottle top in a drawer and thought it would make an interesting story. Enjoy...
