The office loft in our three story home in Oak Creek Canyon, AZ is supported entirely on 12 (not 13) 50,000# Sediver toughened green glass suspensions made from a HVDC line in Vermont which runs from James Bay, Canada (Hydro Quebec) to Boston area substation. Linemen from Vermont Electric Transmission (VELCO) shipped the insulators to our home as a gift after training with our company, Ropes That Rescue, Ltd. in 2001. These heavier insulators replaced older suspect 1930 JD blue porcelain suspensions that gave pause when entering the loft! Obviously, if these insulators had failed, there would have been a mess. So, the linemen at VELCO solved the problem for us!
