At the Springfield, Ohio 2005 show, Jeff Katchko had three large boxes of glass stringers, pieces of insulators and other pieces of misc. glass he and Dave Sztramski found at the Brookfield dump site.

This insignia was among the bits. It says "I.R. PRIV. PREM. FAB. G. LUXARDO".

It appears to be an insignia from a bottle of Luxardo Italian liqueur. Luxardo makes brandy, Sambuca, flavored liqueurs and other spirits. According to their website, they have been in business since 1821. In 1913 they modernized. The initial 'G.' may stand for 'Giorgio Luxardo'. There is more history at the link below:

Why would this be in the Brookfield dump? They could have made bottles for Luxardo, or it could have been in the cullet pile. Dwayne Anthony submitted this opinion:

My guess is the blob seal from the Brookfield site was just a piece from their cullet pile. As you probably know, there is written documentation that Brookfield was a heavy user of cullet. Blob seal bottles were more popular prior to Old Bridge days and required special attention for applying the seal. I just don't see Brookfield making them. Nothing concrete of course, just my thoughts.

Thanks to Dwayne!
