Extraordinary, isn't it? The board is made from black walnut and curly maple, with maple crown molding. The board was made from 3/4" boards - this is NOT veneered!

The two sides are spalted maple and sugar maple for contrasting color, and each piece is a full size replica of an actual insulator, individually hand turned by Elaine and I. The four castles alone took more than two days to fabricate beause each turret needed to be formed by hand (using several of Elaine's nail files).

As far as we know, this is a ONE OF A KIND set. The board is 33" square, and each piece is unique in that the wood that we chose was mounted in such a way to expose the best grain patterns.
