Okay, now I hate to be the one that spoils the party, but ever since the introduction of the [085] Brookfield style Hemingray variant listed in the 2003 price guide, I've seen several offered for sale, but are seldom what I would consider the real deal. On the left is what I consider a "faux" specimen, which I see often offered for sale, but I believe it to be the standard [080] embossing. On the right is what I consider to be a true [085] Brookfield style. The differences are fairly subtle, but significant enough to stand out. Take note of the following: 1) Dimensions; 2) Crown height & shape; 3) Shoulder curve; 4) Embossing spacing & positioning. Any other Hemi specialists out there wish to give me their 2 cents on this? See also my other photo that is a color overlay of the two so you can compare shapes: [id=135882117] |
