This was a hunt, but without much for finds (except for a nearby yard sale, where I hit pay dirt). The horseflies, deerfiles and skeeters were unbearable - there is a lot of swampland, er, wetland, around, and the bugs were loving it... The long abandoned stretch of tracks between Madison and Conway NH has some very good potential hunting possibiities in the fall, after the first cold snap has deleted all of the nastier bugs... The last time a train rumbled down these tracks is about 40 years ago... There is another stretch of the same tracks, that passes by a (now flooded) swamp, the poles were simply cut off at the base and allowed to fall over into the water. Supposedly there are more Brookie CREBS and NETT 104s to be found, if one doesn't mind getting muddy and wet (and bugbit). |
