Another view of the unusual square pole transformer in service on the PGE system in Oregon. There are some other unusual details about this installation. The pot is hung on a double strap crossarm hanger that was in style 30 years before this transformer was built! The pot has a top mounted bushing which indicates it is old but not ancient. Note the gray rubber bushing protector to keep the squirrels from becoming road kill. I call these "witch hats" and they were installed on transformer bushings in forested areas within the last 10 years. The voltage is 7200/12,470 Y primary and 120/240 v. secondary. Note the 4 lug secondary bushing arrangement, another throwback to an earlier era. I am so curious as to the make of this pot, that I am contemplating renting a bucket truck for an hour!......will keep you posted.
