This series of pictures shows the installation of look alike telegraph lines beside a train display at the Flin Flon museum in Flin Flon Manitoba. The line consists of three poles with six "telegraph lines" (not active) starting from the museum and going two spans to end at the third pole. A cable was buried over to the first pole to feed a light on it. A pair of old style open wires descends to the middle pole to feed a second light. The lights are the old incandescent fixtures that used to light all of Flin Flon decades ago. There are only a small handful of these left and non have been in service for many years. These two were left abandoned on poles along an old ski hill. We converted them to high-pressure sodium with the installation of two pole mounted ballast boxes (not shown in pictures). All construction labour was done by Manitoba Hydro workers. Sask Power donated the high-pressure sodium ballast boxes. The wire and light fixtures came from the Flin Flon ski lodge and of coarse, I supplied the insulators. Any questions, feel free to contact me at csweryda@hotmail.com |
