Well here's the last shot in this series that I have to offer. There were 7 or 8 poles in this one little section of road on the east side of Pennsboro, W. Va. The next time I'm up that way, they may be gone. Who knows? Just some common pieces of glass on some "skinny thin poles" as Jack Tod used to refer to them. This rail line connected many little towns along the way. Some don't exist anymore. The potential the line has to offer is tremendous. Built in the 1850's by the B&O Railroad. How many times were the telegraph lines upgraded over the years before they were removed ?. Think of how many thousands of pieces of glass could possibly still be out there in the remote areas, sheds, barns and outhouses......... Oh well. August 4, 2005 was indeed a good day for getting some research started. Will try to get back sometime before the end of the year and do some more checking around. |
