The is how the pole looks after I climbed it. The brown piece was already on the ground so it must have fell off of its own accord.

I tried turning each insulator but none of them would unscrew, in fact the only thing that turned was the complete crossarm. The pieces I was after were the single groovers. In the end I had to saw off the middle crossarm and that enabled me to get a double groove piece as well.
