Here is the same pile of poles James had in one of his earlier posted photos. People have thrown all sort of waste here, old fences, tubes, planks etc after the poles were piled up. As the situation of all stations with pile of poles, many of the insulators are broken but still a number undamaged ones could be saved. Nice examples were the ones marked "Jobson Brothers" (1876-1884) and the "Buller Jobsons" (1885-1887). As can be seen, they are all heavily rust marked from the telegraph iron wire. The tracks can be seen disappearing away over the windy, grassy hills - this is in the very north of Scotland! |
