This is my first submission to the Collectors Album. This photo shows the two types of the CD 144 Foree Bain patent. I found a few of each of these in the late 1960s.

The price guide notes the obvious difference between them, which is the embossed patent date circling the crown. What it doesn't mention is that the style without the embossing has ridges on the base of the insulator that match those on the exterior and up to the pinhole (see following picture). To me, this is a unique base not mentioned in the McDougald guide (call it a "ridged" base). The embossed style has a smooth base.

The ones I found walking the tracks (and later possibly climbing some poles) south of Denver always matched the colors shown here. The unembossed style in aqua and the embossed style in light green (I wish someone would tell me it is lime green!).

Footnote: I want to say hi to the ICON members. I am humbled and amazed by the caliber of the pieces shown in this album. As I mentioned above, I collected insulators during my teens in a short flurry between 1966 and 1970. As I went to college and pursued other paths, I packed away my modest collection in my father's basement. When my father became ill and was confined to a nursing home, I was forced to sell his house. When I came across my boxed collection, I fell in love with them all over again! I am as hooked now at age 52 as I was then.
