This is a postcard scan of the center of town in Rockland, MA. This is the community where the majority of amber T-H.E. insulators were found in the 1960s and 1970s. Shown is a downtown scene of Rockland about 100 years ago. Several amber T-H.E. insulators were swapped-out by the late Phil Harding along this busy road in 1970. We are speaking of the pole line on the left side. Joe Maurath spotted these cool pieces and Phil did the line-work. Incredibly, the clear CD 122 insulators used as replacement insulators are still there to this day, along with the six-wire fire alarm circuit that was on the two four-pin arms! Since this photo was taken the fire alarm circuits were put onto six-pin crossarms as poles were replaced. With an upcoming photo I will show you exactly what this line looks like today (six open-wires and all!) with the same buildings in the background. FYI...Originally (as I was told) there were telephone circuits on the top crossarm. The now-gone street railway and present electric lighting lines were strung on poles on the right side of this photo as such remain today.
