It has been speculated that N.E.P. represents New England Power. Most if not all N.E.P. insulators have been located in NEP territory, later known (by 1960 or thereabouts) the New England Power System. This company operated in VT(?), MA, and RI and with its smaller subsidiary companies (lots of them). These NEP insulators are very much similar to Porcelain Products examples in the same style and glaze coloring, typical of PP production from the late 1920's through the 1930's. The only difference is where the "PP in a rectangle" stamping would be is the NEP marking on the side of the insulator's crown edge. The majority of NEP insulators have been located within the present Massachusetts Electric Company territory in central Massachusetts. Information provided by Joe Maurath, Jr.
