Circa 1935 residential "knob and tube" wiring

This and following pictures were taken during the remodeling and rewiring of a 2-flat apartment building in Hessville, Indiana. Recent displays at some Midwest insulator shows and swaps has generated interest in this early form of wiring using porcelain insulators and devices. This photo shows both knobs and tubes and a splice that appears to have overheated due to circuit overload (common when pennies were placed behind fuses to increase circuit capacity).
