These pieces are very rare and most have come from Caleb Thimell through the years. Joe Maurath, Jr. was very fortunate to purchase a couple of these "wild" insulators from Caleb during the early 1990s while Caleb was in Columbia. It is unknown how the red swirls got into the glass however some are more pronounced than others. Joe comments that it appears that the more red the more these likely have internal fractures. Probably something that occurred during annealing on account of the "foreign" matter in the glass? Any that have more red in them without damage are worth a premium!
