I started with insulators as a bottle collector/digger when I was 12. Near my home were a few old dumps in the woods I loved to play in and I brought home all kinds of old bottles and quite a few insulators through the years. It wasn't until 1999 when I was 17 when I found out about the insulator hobby. And how much my accumulation of insulators pretty much (wasn't) worth. But these common pieces got me started and into the hobby today! The best piece I ever found before I knew what insulators "were" was this CD 200 Star in light greenish-aqua. I dug it out of a hole filled with 102 and 121 Brookfields as well as 104 New Eng. Tel's and lots of 115 Whitall Tatum's. The Star is in great shape. Joe M has one similar but more green and I am going to show you the two together in my next photograph. |
