My friend Joe M got this one as a result of a trade (exchanging an amber T.H.E. Co. for it) with Gerald and Esta Brown in the summer of 1970. Joe was about 18 then and the Brown's thought a million of Joe as he was an aspiring college student as well as being a very focused insulator collector/writer/researcher (having had articles printed in numerous Western Collector, Old Bottle Magazine and Crown Jewels of the Wire publications). The Brown's never mentioned where this 102 Westinghouse came from but Joe says to this day that this piece is the most brilliant blue of any Westinghouse glass insulators that he has ever seen. This piece is devoid of pinhole annealing and other "lines" seen in the very few other 102 Westinghouse "blue" ponies out there. Joe's feet did not touch the ground for a week after he opened up his package and found this super dazzling beauty within! From that point on, Joe has pursued each of the subsequent Westinghouse styles in blue (call them whatever shades you want to, but they are truly awesome!). I am going to photograph a few more of these really soon so stay tuned! Tracey Beckham.
